How Stretch Marks are Eliminated

by Marlyn Whipple

The abatement or shrinking of scars, lesions, and stretch mark removal depends on a mechanism known as "skin remodeling". The skin is structured to heal wounds promptly to prevent blood loss and infection. Scars are created from a rapidly produced "collagen glue" that the body accumulates into a damaged area for protection and reinforcement. In ideal skin healing, wounded skin is rapidly closed, then the healed area is gradually reconstructed to eliminate the residual collagen scars and blend the skin area into surrounding skin. Scar collagen is removed and replaced with a mixture of skin cells and invisible collagen fibers. This remodeling may continue in the skin area for about 10 years.

In children, the remodeling rate is high and scars are commonly rapidly removed from damaged skin areas. But as we reach adulthood, this rate diminishes and tiny scars may prevail for years. One way to speed up remodeling is to induce a small amount of controlled skin damage with a needle, laser, acid, or by exfoliating or abrading the skin as in a massage routine, and then letting the body's healing mechanisms rebuild the skin area by itself.

Another method is to help the body with the use of skin repairing activators that increase the body's innate healing mechanisms and obtain an even better final result. This is done by using creams that contain biologically active ingredients that speed up the mechanism of skin remodeling. These ingredients also help activate your skin's metalloproteinases and eliminate damaged proteins such as deep scars created by overstretching or sun-damaged collagen and elastin fibers. At the same time they help activate the mechanism that protects your body against exaggerated breakdown of protein.

Removal of Stretch Marks and Wound Healing

Once an injury has appeared on the skin, both skin cells and connective tissue cells (fibroblasts) start multiplying to heal the damage. The fibroblasts create a matrix upon which the skin cells can migrate to and fill. It is the balance between the rate of multiplication of fibroblasts versus skin cells that is crucial here. If the fibroblasts replicate too fast, they can create a strong network that is not as easily penetrated by the skin cells and that results in a large scar. If the skin cells keep up with the fibroblasts, then little scar tissue is created and the skin has a more normal look after the wound has healed. Thus it is IMPERATIVE that skin healing is regulated and advances at a quick pace.

This is where natural ingredients play an important part. A facial massage routine is designed to "remove" the dead skin layer by layer, at a speed your body can act upon while rebuilding itself with its own capabilities and applying the help of biological skin renewal activators found in some creams.

One of these ingredientes are the bioactive elements found in the snail's mucin that increase the skin's regenerative mechanisms

In addition to accelerating removal of damaged protein in the skin, biological ingredients improve the skin's natural regenerative responses by stimulating new capillary formation and thus carrying more oxygen through the blood to zones were it has stimulated an increase of the biosynthesis of elastin, proteoglycans, collagen and the water holding glycosaminoglycans that provide your skin with improved pressure withstanding and stretching capability.

Natural ingredients restore damaged cells and eliminate toxins, hair follicles are depurated of debris, microbes are killed, new collagen, elasting and water holding cells are created. The Final Result: YOUR SKIN CLEAR OF STRETCH MARKS.
