Collectibles - What Should I Collect?
One favorite pastime for people all around the world is collectibles. Everyone remembers Grandmas old jewelry or an uncle old books, No matter what it may be, if someone has it, someone wants it.
I remember a television program in which a man was fascinated by macaroni and cheese boxes. He collected over 100,000 of these boxes from around the globe, covering several different eras. Although this wouldn't necessarily constitute as profitable collectibles, this man clearly found value in his macaroni boxes.
People start collecting items for many different reasons. Maybe they talked about how much they liked owls, and this caused family and friends to bring them items with owls on them back from vacation, as gifts, etc.
When people choose which items to collect, many pick those that remind them of happy times in their childhood. Some may decide upon vintage toys or dolls as their area of interest. Others may decide to start a collection with brands that they know and love. These include Pepsi, Budweiser, and those especially profitable collectible items with a Coca-Cola history.
There are a few collectibles that are greatly valued by consumers due to the fact that the value will never decrease. Something that not only makes you feel good because you own it, but that has value in addition to that is what makes an object collectible.
The second reason for collecting is to turn the collectibles into cash. You might start collecting a certain item because it is very popular, only to find later that you have a space full of junk that isn't popular any more and that nobody, including you, now wants.
My advice is to only collect what you love and can live with; you may be the only one who finds it desirable in the end. If you want to make some cash, do not stock pile your collection, keep up with the popularity of the collectibles at the moment and sell them as fast as you buy them, no holding onto them waiting for value to increase, as it may never do so.
