Acne Vulgaris, or acne, is a common skin problem on the face, and sometimes on the back and chest. Types of Severe Acne:

The first type is called Pyoderma Faciale, and it is only found in young women. It has a reddish rosacea-like appearance, and therefore it is sometimes referred to as rosacea fulminans. It usually consists of painful, red pimples on your face. It can onset abruptly, but it is rarely present for longer than a year. It is only on the face, and it is not associated with oily skin. Next is Gram-negative Folliculitis, which is caused by a bacterial infection. It consists of a redness of the skin, and a few blemishes, but it is not actually considered acne. Patients who have taken antibiotics over a long period of time can get this condition as a result. It can be caused by oral or topical antibiotics. Treating Gram-negative Folliculitis can be hard to treat because of its resistance to antibiotics.

Next is a condition that consists of large nodule-like blemishes on the body. It is called Acne Fulminans. Unlike other acne, it can be accompanied by ulcers, fever, and joint pain. It can cause serious scarring in a short time, and with little or no warning. It is resistant to antibiotics, and so it can be difficult to get rid of. Acne Conglobata is the most serious form of acne. This form of acne is characterized by deep, sometimes painful nodules in the skin.
